On May 17th, CED Co-op held our third Annual General Meeting and Member Appreciation BBQ at First Mennonite Church. Many thanks to the members and their guests who joined us to celebrate the tremendous year we had. We look forward to generating more clean energy for Ontario, and profits for our investors.
Following our BBQ we gathered to view the latest CED Co-op solar project across the street at 50 Kent. Mike Kraus and Wayne Kornelsen explained the engineering and design behind this impressive array. The solar panels are being installed shortly. We are looking forward to a grand opening at Green Energy Doors Open in the fall. Stay tuned for more details and your invitation.
As we finished our snacks and conversations, we moved inside where CED Co-op President Brian Unrau presented his report and the audited financial statements. 2015 was an exciting year for CED Co-op, and we achieved some ambitious goals. Our offering statement was receipted, we achieved a widely held status, and became a public corporation – all steps leading to our ability to take investments to finance renewable energy projects. The investments in the fall totaled over $9.6 million, far surpassing our early goal of $2.5 milion. Our project portfolio and membership continues to grow. As we grow we are focusing on communication, the investment process, and financing to ensure we remain a strong organization, delivering timely results for our members.
Secretary Dale Brubacher-Cressman coordinated board elections. With five vacancies and five nominations we acclaimed David Agocs, Dale Brubacher-Cressman, John Brubacher, Blair Groff, and Anton Lamers as the newest members of the board. Please join us in welcoming these gentlemen to the board of directors and thanking them for agreeing to serve the members of the co-op.
